Sewing Pattern for Fairy Skirt

For the entire skirt, you'll need 6.3 meters of fabric. The standard fabric width is 140 cm. The green skirt is made from drapey chiffon fabric, while the pink one is sewn from a sturdier satin fabric. The chiffon creates a heavier, more draped, and fitted look, whereas the light satin fabric gives a flowy, fairy-like appearance.

Beneath the visible, flowing, draped skirt, there is bell shape underskirt. The waist part is reinforced with a layer of fusible adhesive interfacing to help it hold its shape better.

The pattern consists of just three pieces: the under-skirt, the drapery part, and the waist. The skirt is easy to sew if you already know how to sew the zipper.

The hem of the skirt is finished with a baby lock stitch, which is the best method for achieving a light, flowy look without distorting the fabric. However, if you don’t have access to a serger, you can simply fold the bottom edge of the skirt or use a decorative string to finish the hem.

Sewing order:
Cut your pattern pieces.
Make sure you have all skirt parts — front, back (same pattern), waist, and 4 circle pieces.
I use a 25cm secret zipper

.Add seam allowance. Many sewing patterns don’t include a seam allowance, so you can choose your own depending on the fabric and your sewing preference.
I add +1 cm, but this can change — for thicker fabric or zipper areas, you might add more, maybe you will sew the French seams, then you should also add a bigger seam allowance.
To add seam allowance, trace around the pattern and draw an extra line 1 cm away from the edge.

Sew the side seams of the bottom skirt.

Leave an opening on one side for the zipper.

Use flizelin adhesive to make the waist part thicker.

Sew the long sides of the 4 round details into one circle.

Use a serger or French seams.

Also leave an opening for the zipper.

Pin the top  skirt part to the bottom skirt.

Sew both layers together at the waistline

Measure the skirt on your body before
sewing the waist part to adjust the fit.

Sew a secret zipper.

I use a babylock seam to finish the hem.
